Crime soars as police go on strike in Brazil

A strike by police officers in and around the Brazilian city of Salvador has sparked a wave of murders and other crimes. At least 80 homicides have been registered since the police action began on Tuesday. The violence comes as the country prepares to hold Carnival celebrations which attract visitors from around the world.
