Historical gift to the American people unveiled

A 715 year old copy of Magna Carta is set to go on display in the National Archives in the U.S. after conservation work.

It is owned by a Washington businessman who is loaning it to the country. Magna Carta’s legacy dates back to 1215, a declaration of human rights it inspired the United States founding documents.

The copy was one of four reissued in the year 1297.
