The British Energy and Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne has resigned after prosecutors decided he will be charged with a criminal offence.
It is alleged that in 2003 he asked his then wife to take responsibility for a speeding offence that would have cost him his driving licence.
The pair, who split in 2010, will appear in court in central London later this month charged with perverting the course of justice.
Huhne, a Liberal-Democrat, has always denied any wrongdoing.
He is the third minister to quit the Conservative-LibDem coalition following a scandal.
