Pakistan PM faces contempt hearing

world news

| |

Pakistan’s Supreme Court is preparing to charge the prime minister with contempt of court for failing to re-open corruption inquiries against the president dating back to the 1990s.

Yusuf Raza Gilani’s government has so far refused to investigate President Zardari, citing presidential immunity – despite a Supreme Court decree abolishing an amnesty.

The charge sheet will be framed on February 13.
