A French court has upheld a ruling against the Church of Scientology for cajoling members into spending large amounts of money for questionable remedies.

In 2009 the church was fined 600,000 euros for ‘organised fraud’; four of its leaders were given suspended jail sentences.

In 1995 a parliamentary report classified the church as a ‘dangerous cult’.
