Sicily was slowly getting back to normal on Sunday after a week-long strike paralysed the country’s petrol stations and supermarkets.

Reports say lorry drivers and farmers will continue peaceful protests but have lifted their blockades.

The so-called “Pitchfork Movement” opposes the rising cost of fuel, the result of Italy’s new austerity measures.
