The body of British security guard Alan McMenemy has been handed over to the UK’s embassy in Baghdad, almost five years after his abduction in Iraq.
The remains of three other British bodyguards seized by the same Shi’ite Muslim militia in the Iraqi capital were returned in 2009. The men were killed when they tried to escape, according to the cleric who heads the group.
Only a computer expert kidnapped with them at Iraq’s Finance Ministry in May 2007 was released alive.
