Ethiopia says its working to secure the release of four people kidnapped after a deadly attack on foreign tourists.
Injured survivors have been transferred to hospital after Tuesday’s ambush in which two Germans, two Hungarians and an Austrian national were killed. A futher two German tourists as well as two Ethiopians were abducted.
Ethiopia claims its neighbour and arch-foe Eritrea is behind the attack, saying it trained and armed the gunmen in the remote Afar region. Eritrea denies any involvement.
Authorities in Ethiopia says they have sent tribal elders to try to secure the release of the hostages, who the government believes are now being held across the Eritrean border.
