Baptism of ice for Russian Orthodox Christians

Thousands of Russians have been celebrating the Orthdox Christian holiday of Epiphany with a baptism of ice.

The tradition commemorates the baptism of Jesus Christ and marks the end of Christmas for members of the Russian Orthodox church.

Worshippers of all ages took part in similar celebrations across the country.
