English Premier League club Liverpool and Merseyside Police are investigating alleged racial abuse from fans towards Oldham Athletic defender Tom Adeyemi.
The player complained to referee Neil Swarbrick and Friday’s FA Cup tie was delayed for five minutes during which team-mates and Liverpool players tried to calm him down.
It is the latest racial issue to surface at Liverpool after Uruguyan striker Luis Suarez was banned for eight matches for abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.
