Eleven die in NZ hot air balloon crash

A hot air balloon has crashed in rural New Zealand killing all 11 people aboard.

The balloon came down near a small town 150 kilometres north of the capital Wellington.

Witnesses described seeing 10 metre high flames rising from the balloon’s basket before it plummeted to the ground.

The balloon hit power lines as it fell, causing power cuts in the local area.
