Investigators in New York have released video of a man throwing a firebomb at a building. The attack was one of three on Sunday night that included a Mosque where up to a hundred Muslims were worshipping.

Police are treating the arson spree as a hate crime.

All the attacks took place in the borough of Queens.

One of the other targets was on a house used as a temple by Hindus. It was extensively damaged but no one was injured.

The third incident took place at a convenience store run by Muslims.

Muslim community leaders say their civil rights have been steadily eroded since 9/11 especially as a result of what they see as intrusive police surveillance.

However the mayor and governor of New York have both expressed their outrage the incidents.
