A fresh bout of heavy rain has caused severe flooding and left one person dead in Thailand.

Several southern provinces have been declared disaster zones with floodwaters almost two metres high in some places.

It has brought renewed chaos to the country which has been struggling to recover from torrential rains and widespread flooding last summer which have affected more than two million people.

Thailand’s worst floods in half a century have also destroyed millions of tons of crops and badly damaged industrial production to the tune of around 40-billion euros.
