Syrian troops 'shoot live rounds at civilians'

New pictures have emerged that appear to show Syrian troops shooting live rounds at civilians.

Anti-government activists uploaded the video to social networking sites earlier on Thursday – a day during which at least twenty five people reportedly died.

euronews has been unable to independently verify its content but protesters say it was filmed in the southern city of Duma, close to the capital Damascus.

The violence has continued, despite the presence of Arab League observers.

They are in Syria to hear from eyewitnesses and monitor promises made by President Bashar al-Assad to withdraw his forces and release political prisoners.

The UN says more than 5,000 people have died since the uprising began nine months ago.
