UEFA quizzed by Swiss court The Swiss Football Association’s dispute with FIFA over FC Sion fielding ineligible players came to end on Friday when the club has 36 points deducted.
Laurent Roussey’s men were put under a transfer embargo over the signing of Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El Hadary, but still went on to sign six new players who were all involved in this year’s Europa League.
The Swiss FA said it made the deduction based on a formula demanded by FIFA. The penalty leaves Sion 10th and last in the Swiss Super League, on minus five points.
