Australia’s Investec Loyal produced a stunning performance to clinch the Sydney to Hobart yacht race on Wednesday.
The Supermaxi, owned and skippered by Anthony Bell, edged out favourites Wild Oats XI by 3 minutes and 8 seconds after a thrilling finish.
For the second year running, the victory was immediately placed under protest by the race committee, but this time amid allegations the provisional winner used a television helicopter pilot to spy on its rival.
If found guilty, the yacht could be disqualified or face a time penalty.
