Turkey hits out at ‘racist’ bill in France

Racist, discriminatory and xenophobic.

That is how Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has described the French parliamentary vote making it a crime to deny genocide.

Speaking alongside visiting Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich, he said it had opened wounds with Paris that will be difficult to heal and he hit back with reprisals.

Not only has Turkey recalled its ambassador in Paris, but Ankara is also cancelling all economic, political and military meetings with France. It is withdrawing permission for French warships to dock in Turkey and joint military projects, including exercises with its NATO partner have been scrapped.
