Crippling rail strikes in southern Belgium which yesterday left few trains running are not the end of passenger misery.

The country’s rail unions are to join a public sector strike today meaning rail travel will once again be disrupted.

Eurostar will not be operating to and from Brussels, services will start and terminate at Lille in France.

As airport security staff continue their strike for a seventh day in France police have been ordered to deploy at two airports to make sure flights are not paralysed.

Lyon and Paris’s Charles de Gaulle airports have been the worst affected so far with the strike for higher pay affecting mostly outgoing flights.
