The giant Russian oil company Rosneft has become the biggest producer of crude in the world according to a report in the newspaper Vedemosti.

In the first nine months of the year the state-owned firm extracted 88.6 million tonnes of black gold, overtaking the American ExxonMobil.

The report said Rosneft’s output was up 2.9 per cent compared to the same period last year.
