French airport security staff continue strike

world news

| |

A strike by security staff slowed outgoing traffic at the main airports in the French cities of Paris and Lyon as the walkout over pay and conditions entered its third day on Sunday.

This weekend is the busiest for departures ahead of the Christmas break, although arrivals at both airports are going ahead as normal.

Authorities in Lyon cancelled all departures this morning and warn that Monday’s outbound flights could also be affected.

The Spanish capital, Madrid, has also been hit by airport strike action.

Pilots from the country’s flagship airline, Iberia, are staging a two-day walkout over management plans to create a ‘low-cost’ airline.

The pilots say it threatens jobs and working conditions.
