No Khan do in Washington

American Lamont Peterson beat Britain’s Amir Khan in a spectacular fight in Washington on Saturday night to win the WBA super-lightweight and IBF light-welterweight titles.

It was a heavy defeat for Khan who lost both his belts after being deducted two points that proved to be crucial as the bout went all 12 rounds.

Referee Joseph Cooper deducted points for pushing in the seventh and 12th leaving Peterson to celebrate what turned out to be a split decision victory.

One judge giving the fight 114-111 to Khan, but the other two scoring it 113-112 for 27 year old Peterson.
