Surveillance video from the New York hotel where former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn was accused of sexual assault proves that the hotel maid was telling the truth, according to her lawyers.

They argue the film shows Nafissatou Diallo demonstrating the alleged attack in May to her bosses and security staff afterwards – and dismiss any suggestion of a plot.

So do the hotel owners Accor, who have again reacted angrily over other images apparently showing two employees celebrating – insisting the scene is irrelevant.

Diallo’s lawyers say the truth is she was a victim.

“It is crystal clear. Videos don’t lie, Nafi Diallo described that incident to her supervisors on the 28th floor, repeatedly, and then had to come down to the security department and she did the same thing because she is telling the truth. That is the fact,” said one of her attorneys, Kenneth Thompson.

Prosecutors later dropped criminal charges, saying the maid had lied about details. Diallo has continued a civil case.

A lawyer for Strauss-Kahn said on Thursday he had no proof of a conspiracy against the former French presidential hopeful, denouncing media speculation.
