Former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal faces life in prison and not the death penalty after shooting dead a white policeman in 1981. After years of appeals which always upheld his conviction, a court has ordered a new sentencing hearing after believing instructions to a jury may have been misinterpreted.
