Kazkahstan’s Alexandre Vinokourov is taking legal action against Swiss magazine L’Illustré over a report he bribed his Russian opponent Aleksandr Kolobnev in order to win last year’s Liege-Bastogne-Liege race.

The article alleged the Astana rider made a 100,000 euro payment to ensure that his rival did not push him to the line in a sprint finish between the pair.

Vinokourov, who retired this year before changing his mind, was banned for two years after testing positive for blood doping in 2007.
