US Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is suspending his campaign, after another accusation of infidelity.

With his wife standing behind him, Cain announced his decision to a crowd of supporters in Atlanta.

“Today, with a lot of prayer and soul-searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign. I am suspending my presidential campaign because of the continued distractions, the continued hurt caused on me and my family. I am at peace with my God. I am at peace with my wife,” he said.

In the latest scandal, a woman from Atlanta claims she had a 13-year affair with the former pizza magnate and Tea Party favourite. There have also been other accusations of infidelity and sexual harassment, as well as some much-publicised gaffes during interviews.
