German author Christa Wolf dies at 82

Christa Wolf, one of Germany’s most celebrated

writers for her depictions of life in the former

communist East, has died aged 82.

A committed Marxist in her early years, her image suffered amid revelations linking her to the East German Stasi secret police at the start of the 1960s.
