Minsk metro bombers sentenced to death

A court in Belarus has sentenced two men to death, after a bomb attack at a metro station killed 15 people.

Dmitry Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalyov, both 25, were arrested three days after the explosion happened in the capital Minsk.

The bomb went off on a packed platform on 11 April, during the evening rush hour.

Rights activists had urged authorities not to impose the death sentence. Belarus is the only country in Europe still using capital punishment.
