Valencia striker Roberto Soldado scored a hat trick to hand his side an incredible 7-0 win over Racing Genk in the Champions League at the Mestalla.

This win sees Unai Emery’s men move into second place, behind Bayer Leverkusen after they beat Chelsea 2-1.

In group F, Arsenal downed German champions 2-0 thanks to a brace from Dutch forward Robin Van Persie.

The Gunners are now sure of finishing top of their group after Marseille suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat to Olympiacos.

In group G, FC Porto scored two late goals to defeat Shaktar Donetsk at the Donbass Arena.

Elsewhere Zenith Saint Petersburg missed the opportunity to go top as they were held to a frustrating draw by Apoel in Russia.

And in group H, Barcelona needed a late wonder goal from playmaker Xavi to edge out AC Milan 3-2 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Pep Gardiola’s men ensured top spot, Victoria Plzen edged out BATE Borisov 1-0 at the Dynamo Stadium.
