Competitors heading for next year’s Dakar Rally through South America were preparing their vehicles at the port of Le Havre in France on Wednesday.

The 33rd edition, which gets underway on the 1rst of January will go coast-to-coast across South America and end in Peru.

A total of 465 vehicles are expected to compete in this year’s event with drivers covering approximately 8,400km during the race.

Last year’s motorbike and quad winners, Marc Coma of Spain and Argentina’s Alejandro Patronelli are racing again this year.

Also among the competitors will be France’s Hugo Payen who is sponsored by the adult movie production company ‘‘Marc Dorcel’‘.

The event which begins on New Year’s day in Mar del Plata is the fourth to be held in South America.
