Italian cyclist, Ricardo Rico has been in the dock. The 27-year-old has been found guilty of doping offences during the 2008 Tour de France.

He was handed a two month suspended sentence for having taken the banned substance EPO and fined 3,000 euros.

The one time darling of Italian cycling is currently suspended by his country’s Olympic Committee after a further case of alleged doping in February this year.

The cyclist, nicknamed the Cobra is said to have admitted to a doctor he carried out a blood transfusion to boost his performance but later denied he had confessed.
