Champions League: United and Benfica eye knockout stage

Manchester United will be looking to end Benfica’s unbeaten start to the season when both sides lock horns at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

England international Wayne Rooney should play despite missing training on Monday morning while Jonny Evans should also be available.

Like United, Benfica have won two and drawn two of their four Group C games so far and victory for either would put that side through as group winners with a game to spare.

In group C’s other game, FC Basel will be looking to keep their dreams of qualification alive when they face Otelul Galati.

In group A, German giants Bayern Munich welcome Villareal while second placed Manchester City travel to Italy to face Napoli

In group B, CSKA Moscow will be seeking to earn all three points against Lille while Trabzonspor entertain Inter Milan.

And in group D, Real Madrid host Dynamo Zagreb while Ajax can book their place in the last 16 for the first time since 2005 with a win against Lyon at the Stade Gerland.
