Airline dispute set for arbitration

The Australian airline Qantas has failed to reach an agreement in a long running industrial dispute with pilots and ground staff.

The airline will now be forced to go to arbitration in a bid to end over six months of disruption.

A series of strikes over guarantees on working conditions, wages, job security and moving jobs to Asia hit the carrier.

The Australian government stepped in and imposed a deadline of November 21 for a settlement.
