Spanish Election: Rajoy comments on landslide victory

Mariano Rajoy, the leader of the Popular Party has commented his comfortable victory on the night of the Spanish election.
He began by thanking those who voted for him, and went on to thank, the previous prime minister, José Luis Zapatero, and also the Socialist candidate Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba who both called to congratulate him personally.
“My first words, said Mariano Rajoy, are addressed to the Spanish people, whom I thank for this strong advocacy.”
He added that for the country there are tough times ahead, if they’re going to succeed in escaping their current economic crisis.
While a PP majority government was the best result to please the markets, Mariano Rajoy will not be swarn in until December 20th.
Therefore it is expected that during the month long transition he is expected to give hints or even make policy statements, indicating that he will cut spending, restructure banks and initiate other radical reforms, in order to keep the financial markets happy.
