St Paul's protesters defy deadline

Anti-capitalist protesters camped outside St Paul’s Cathedral in London have defied a deadline to leave or face legal action.

The demonstrators were given notice to pack up and go by 6pm on Thursday, but as the hour approached the organisers marked the passing of the deadline with a silent scream and raising of hands.

The City of London Corporation, which owns most of the land concerned, will now resume legal action to end the month-long protest.

A lawyer representing the campers, said he will work to ensure his clients’ interests are “fearlessly defended.”
