Aboard the Dreamliner US plane maker Boeing has landed its biggest ever order with the sale of 230 jets to Lion Air of Indonesia, a deal worth around 20 billion euros.
Less than a week ago the company bagged an order worth 18 billion euros for 50 planes by the Emirates airline at the Dubai Air Show.
The Lion Air deal comes towards the end of President Barack Obama’s tour of the Asia Pacific region, during which he is trying to secure trade deals with emerging economies that he hopes will bolster the weakened US economy – and with it his ambitions for re-election next year.
The White House says the deal should safeguard more than 100,000 jobs.
