Extradition of convicted murderer turned down

A court in Portugal has freed a convicted murderer after rejecting a request by the US to extradite him.

American-born George Wright was arrested in Lisbon after 41 years on the run since escaping from jail in the US in 1970.

He subsequently married a Portugese woman and acquired Portugese citizenship, preventing his extradition.
