England rugby team manager Martin Johnson has stepped down after three and a half years in the job following the country’s failure to progress beyond the quarter-final stages in New Zealand.

England’s hopes were dashed when they were outclassed 19-12 by France, who went on to lose to the All Blacks in the final.

Johnson, who’s only tournament success as coach was in the Six Nations earlier this year, won 84 caps for England as a player, leading the side to victory in the 2003 World Cup.
