Turkey have parted ways with head coach Guus Hiddink after the country’s failure to qualify for the Euro 2012 finals.

Hamit Altintop’s team-mates held Croatia to a goalless draw in Zagreb on Tuesday night but their 3-0 defeat at home in Istanbul last Friday proved costly for the former Chelsea manager.

Hiddink, who has also managed the Netherlands, South Korea, Australia and Russia, has already been linked with a possible return to Stamford Bridge after a successful spell as caretaker manager of Chelsea in 2009.
