Police smash wrong door – twice

world news

Lightening may never strike twice – but the same cannot be said for the French police.

Chasing a dangerous fugitive they mistakenly broke down the front door of an elderly woman. And then two weeks later they did it again.

Now police have had to provide their victim with protection as it is a bank holiday weekend in France so no-one is available to replace the door.

The woman’s daughter said she had been trying to calm her mother since the first incident and could not believe it had happened again.

“She’s old and she’s scared,” said the daughter.

Marseille police have apologised unreservedly for the incidents and pledged to cover the cost of a new door.

And most importantly, they say they have now arrested the suspect so there should not be a third time.
