The authorities in Mexico have retrieved the body of Interior Minister Francisco Blake, who, along with seven other victims, died in a helicopter crash on Friday. There were no survivors.

It is thought Blake and two of his senior officials were travelling between Mexico City and the state of Morelos when the crash happened.

Blake is the second Mexican interior minister in Felipe Calderon’s presidency to be involved in an aviation accident.

“The cloudy conditions at the time certainly make it likely that this was an accident,” said the president. “Regardless, there were will be exhaustive investigations into the circumstances surrounding this fatal incident.”

One of Blake’s predecessors, Juan Camilo Mouriño, died in similar circumstances when his plane smashed into a Mexico City highway three years ago.
