The last obstacle for Russia’s candidacy to become a member of the world trade organisation has been overcome.
After introducing laws in line with WTO’s rules, the other existing 153 members agreed to put the country’s inclusion to a vote in December.
Georgia has opposed Moscow’s joining for the last three years due to a territorial dispute which lead to armed conflict in 2008.
Russia plans to join the WTO’s voluntary agreement on government procurement and will initiate negotiations for membership within four years of joining the WTO.
