Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega looks set to be re-elected. Despite some allegations of election fraud, the former Marxist guerilla leader is almost certain to win after a divided conservative opposition failed to make a serious challenge.
Ortega has won popular support among the poor with extensive social spending.
