Cyber attack fail as hacker gets his Dax wrong

A website for a second division French rugby team is up and running again after an attack by a hacker who thought he was targeting the Frankfurt stock exchange., a fan site for the team Union Sportive Dacquoise in the French town of Dax, crashed for two weeks after receiving 80,000 hits, about 100 times its usual daily traffic. A spokesman for the club said the hackers “insulted us copiously in German”, presumably thinking the site had something to do with the German market index, the DAX.

“Having been attacked full-on by a young, spotty Teuton, the site is back with more security,” the site’s homepage said on Thursday.
