The leaders of Somalia and Kenya have vowed to fight together to defeat the Islamic militant group al Shabab.

The East African neighbours will coordinate their efforts and information to shut down the group which is thought to be behind the kidnap and murder of several Western tourists.

At the same time Kenya dismissed as “al Shabaab propaganda” reports that its warplanes hit a refugee camp in southern Somalia where five people were killed and 45 wounded.

Kenya’s military said its jets hit the town of Jilib on Sunday in an operation targeting fighters from the Somali insurgent group, killing 10 and wounding many others.
