Earthquake hits southern Peru

There has been little real damage and no deaths or injuries following an earthquake in Peru with a magnitude of 6.9.

The epicentre was 50 kilometres off the coast of the southern city of Ica – the same area where a quake killed 500 people in 2007. This time, a few roads were blocked and mobile phone signal disrupted.
