US President Barack Obama has urged euro zone countries to push ahead with implementing the agreement struck to escape the sovereign debt crisis.

He told the Financial Times that Europe must urgently create a ‘credible firewall’ to bring the crisis under control.

There are fears in Washington that the problems in Europe will have a negative knock-on effect on the fragile US economy.
