French first lady Carla Bruni has given birth to President Nicolas Sarkozy’s baby.
Earlier on Wednesday, the president spent half an hour at the exclusive clinic in Paris where the press pack had been gathering, awaiting news. He returned late at night after attending talks on the euro zone debt crisis in Frankfurt.
The baby is the first child born to a French presidential couple in office.
The model and singer-songwriter turned first lady already has a 10-year-old son from a previous relationship. Sarkozy has three sons from earlier marriages.
