It is the climax of the court case against Ukraine’s ex-prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
A judge has begun reading his verdict after her trial on charges of abusing her position when she signed a gas deal with Russia in 2009.
Some reports quote the judge as saying Tymoshenko did exceed her powers, but the final verdict and sentence have not yet been announced.
The prosecution is calling for a jail term.
Tymoshenko told the court: “It’s not the judge who pronounces the verdict, it’s Yanukovich (Ukraine’s President). Despite the verdict, I will continue my battle just as effectively, for a better European future for Ukraine, for freedom, for justice.”
