European, Middle Eastern and African users of the Blackberry smart phone were feeling cut off on Monday after a server crash in Slough left them stabbing at their touchpads in despair.
The outage began mid-morning and left many users feeling lost and out of touch.
“The only thing that’s working is my text messages. So I pay 50 pounds a month for a phone that doesn’t really work and can’t do anything more than a normal phone,” said one man in London.
A favourite among financial whizzkids and other professionals, Blackberry has been feeling the heat from the new generation of smart phones, especially the iPhone, and has lost market share. This breakdown will not have helped.
