Pro-democracy Bahrainis gather at teenager's funeral

It was a teenage’s boy’s funeral that also sent a message to Bahrain’s government – the pro-democracy movement in the country continues.

Ahmed Jaber, said to be 16, died during protests in the capital Manama. As he was laid to rest, opposition activists staged one of the biggest gatherings since their rebellion was initially crushed earlier this year.

They claim Jaber was shot by security forces at close range with a pellet shotgun. The government of the restive Gulf Arab state says it is investigating and will make the results public.

Up to 40 people have been killed since the unrest started in February. The Sunni-ruled monarchy put down the uprising in the majoirty Shi’ite country but tension remains high.
